· General classroom policies and procedures:
1. Respect: Students must be respectful of others, themselves, the environment that surrounds them, and of all the
2. Be prepared: Students should always come with all the necessary supplies to the classroom, completed assignments and willingness to learn.
3. Homework: As an essential part in the learning process, homework will be given daily (except weekends) in the form of written assignments, reading, or studying and preparation for tests and quizzes.
4. Projects: Projects involve research, written reports, presentations, laboratory, and special occasion activities. Project frequency will vary depending on the material covered.
5. Due dates: Late assignments will be accepted on the same day before
6. Tests and quizzes: Tests will be given at the end of each quarter and will include the material covered during the corresponding period. The last test will be considered the final covering all the topics studied throughout the year. Students will receive at least one week’s notice in order to get prepared. Quizzes may be given at anytime with or without previous notification.
7. Attendance and Absences: In the case of an absence, students are responsible to collect all the missing work upon return to school. Missed tests will be made up the day the student returns to school.
8. After school help: Upon request, an appointment will be made to meet and tackle specific concerns or difficulties.
9. Planners: Students must bring their planners to every class and responsibly record all assignments with a pen. Planners can also be used to send communications between home and school.
10. Web-page: Information about the courses, assignments, projects, and activities will be posted on the web for easy and convenient access. Just go to The Good Hope School web site (www.ghsvi.org), faculty page, and you will find it under my name. As I well understand not everyone has Internet access at home/work, let me know so other arrangements can be made.
11. Personal electronic devices are not to be brought into the classroom. Cell phones, pagers, Discman, I-pods, and portable video games will be confiscated, and taken to Mrs. Cedano where they will be kept until a parent comes to get it.
12. Environmentally friendly choices will be encouraged during both classes. If possible, written reports should be printed on both sides of the paper, use of scrap, clean paper is acceptable, old notebooks with enough pages and in good condition can be brought to class. If you can think of a new environmental awareness idea, let me know, it will always be welcome in my classroom!
